We have been together since 2000. We met while working together at a public relations agency in Manhattan, which was great because it meant we were together every day. Seeing how someone acts in their work environment tells you a lot about them, and fortunately we both liked what we saw in the other. Eventually we moved on with our careers, but our relationship and commitment to each other remained strong. A few years later, in 2005, we registered as Domestic Partners in New York City. If you’ve never been to City Hall in New York, it’s about as romantic as a Burger King on a Friday night—they even slide your certificate under a bullet-proof window—so we decided to officially marry in Quebec City in 2006 with 60 of our family and friends by our side.
We live just outside of New York City in Westchester County and have a weekend house in Upstate New York’s Hudson River Valley. We share our homes with Sadie, a rescue dog that’s a super-cute and playful Australian Shepherd mix, who is dying to have a kid to play with. We grew up in Maine
and Michigan, where we both loved to go camping, hiking, sailing, and swimming. We still enjoy all of these activities today, as well as growing our
own vegetables in our garden, cooking, and woodworking. We also enjoy traveling and can’t wait to show our child some of our favorite places, like London, the Caribbean, Rome, and Africa.
